Vice President Leni Robredo has called on the government to do all that it can to bring to justice the perpetrators behind the twin bombings in Jolo, Sulu that left at least 15 people dead and 77 others injured.

Robredo said the Jolo bombings were “inhuman” and “horrific” as the country is in the middle of battling the coronavirus pandemic.

“This attack is even more horrific in the context of the pandemic, when the imperative is to pull together to address the damage already wrought on our health, economy, and way of life,” she said.

Robredo added, “to kill in such a manner, in these times, regardless of motivation, is inhuman.”

Two explosions rocked Jolo, Sulu around noon on Monday, killing seven soldiers, six civilians, and a policeman.

The first blast happened in Barangay Walled City where a motorcycle exploded, while the second explosion was carried out by a suicide bomber.

The vice president condoled with the families left behind by the victims killed in the incident.

“I grieve with the families of the lost and extend my sympathies to the injured,” Robredo said.

“I stand with our soldiers and the men and women of our uniformed services as well as with the people of Jolo,” she added.
