On August 24, Jolo was rocked by two explosions. The first bomb was reportedly attached to a motorcycle and was detonated around noon.

The second blast was reportedly carried out by a “foreign-looking” female suicide bomber.

Among the fatalities in the blast were civilians, members of the Philippine Army, and the police’s elite Special Action Force (SAF).
