Sen. Revilla rushed to hospital; asks for prayers in struggle vs. COVID-19

Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr., has been rushed to the hospital as his health condition worsened due to the COVID-19.

Sen. Ramon Bong Revilla, Jr.

Revilla’s wife, Bacoor City Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla, disclosed on Tuesday afternoon that the senator was being brought to the hospital after developing pneumonia.

“Father God [please] help my husband. He is being rushed to the hospital. His latest X-ray shows that he has developed pneumonia and isolation in a regular facility is no longer ideal. Hospital care badly needed. Father, we lift him up to you,” Mercado-Revilla said on her official Facebook page.

Revilla’s hospital admission has also been confirmed by his office.

Revilla, in a short livestream via Facebook, appealed for prayers.

“Just pray for me, please,” the lawmaker said as he struggled to speak in between coughs and apparent difficulty in breathing.

“Laban (Fight),” he also said.

The senator announced last August 9 that he had tested positive for novel coronavirus.

In an interview with radio DWIZ last August 15, Revilla said he was at his “worst” as he experienced chills, sore throat, fluctuating fever and persistent loss of taste and smell . He, however, remained optimistic that he would turn out all right.

The senator also said that he opted to stay isolated his home rather than being confined in the hospital, saying he could still manage his condition then.

Revilla is the fourth senator to contract the COVID-19 following Senators Juan Miguel Zubiri, Juan Edgardo Angara and Aquilino Pimentel III. The three have recovered from the disease.
