In a report to Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente, BI port operations chief Grifton Medina said the aliens were deported Thursday and Friday aboard China Southern Airlines bound for Xiamen that departed from the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Medina said the four who left Thursday, identified as Yong, Li Jia, Ye Bin,and Wang Xuening, are fugitives wanted for economic crimes in China while Xu Xiansheng, Gong Yaan and Xie Yuhong who departed the next day were expelled for engaging in unauthorized black sand mining operations here.

He said deportations are being carried out in compliance with BI chief’s directive to expedite the resolution of cases against aliens confined at the Bicutan jail as part of measures to decongest and prevent the spread of COVID-19 at the facility.

BI Intelligence Chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. disclosed that all seven deportees were arrested in September last year during operations conducted by BI operatives within and outside Metro Manila.

Three of the fugitives were among the 270 illegal foreign workers arrested during a raid by BI agents of their workplace at the Ortigas Center in Pasig City where they secretly operated an online investment scam racket that victimized many of their compatriots in China.

The fourth fugitive is among the 304 illegal foreign workers arrested in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan for engaging in illegal online gaming operations, Manahan said.

He added that the three other deportees were arrested in Masinloc, Zambales where BI agents caught them in the act of engaging in black sand mining.

It was learned that the BI had already deported the hundreds of Chinese nationals arrested in the raids in Pasig and Puerto Princesa.
