299 seafarers repatriated from UK

A total of 299 Filipino seafarers from United Kingdom were repatriated on Monday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said.



Through a chartered a British Airways flight, the 299 Filipino seafarers from the ship MV Azura in London, UK arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 at around 12:07 p.m.

The seafarers were the latest batch to be repatriated after securing clearance from the Foreign Department and the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines.

DFA said the seafarers underwent the appropriate medical protocols upon arrival as required by the Department of Health (DOH).

The seafarers would also be required to undergo quarantine procedures in accordance with the Omnibus Guidelines established by the Interagency Task Force (IATF), it added.

The repatriation involves the DFA in coordination with the local manning agency, Philippine Coast Guard, Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, the DOH, and the Department of Interior and Local Government.
