This is in addition to the temporary shelters that were recently opened at the Lung Center of the Philippines under The Oasis Project.

Robredo said they are only building two more housing units that have a capacity of 20 frontliners due to the limited space at the hospital.

“Ang target namin na opening ay July 1 (Our target date for the opening is in July),” Robredo said.

The latest temporary shelters at the QMMC are a project of the Office of the Vice President and the Rotary Club of San Juan Del Monte.

The OVP’s other partners include architects and interior designers who designed the structures, and the 51st Engineering Brigade of the Philippine Army. The housing units were donated by IKEA Philippines.

Jill Campo-Javiniar, president of the Rotary Club of San Juan, said the Oasis Project is not just about the shelters, but it’s a “physical manifestation of a dream.”

“This dream is two-fold: one is to let our frontliners know that we hear the — we understand your struggles and we want to assure you we will do what we can to ease your burden of being at the forefront in this battle against the coronavirus,” Javiniar, who also heads Robredo’s Angat Buhay program, told the Manila Bulletin.

“Second is to show the world that something like this can be done. That we can take care of each other despite the lockdowns, confusion, and fear of the unknown. We can have an Oasis for everyone,” she added.

Last week, the OVP and its partners constructed four temporary shelters that now serve as emergency room extensions at the Manila Doctors Hospital in Manila for triage and treatment of non-COVID infectious diseases.

They also built the same structure at the Chinese General Hospital for the use of its staff and patients tested positive for coronavirus.
