In compliance with the new normal in the holding of religious services, the Diocese of Novaliches is in the process of recruiting young volunteers to serve in the church.

Novaliches Bishop Roberto Gaa said they are in need of young volunteers to serve as Eucharistic ministers, lectors, and commentators during the mass.

“We have intensified our recruitment drive for young volunteers who will undergo orientation and formation before they start their service to the church,” Gaa said over Church-run Radio Veritas.

Under the general community quarantine, the elderly are discouraged from going out of their homes being more vulnerable to the corona virus.

“Based on a survey conducted by the diocese, around half of church volunteers are senior citizens. That’s why we are recruiting young volunteers to take their place while the threat of COVID-19 exists,” Bishop Gaa said.

The parishes under the Diocese of Novaliches continue to hold holy masses while limiting attendees to ten persons and observing strict safety measures. Once Metro Manila transitions to the more relaxed MGCQ, the parishes will be allowed to fill up 50 percent of the church capacity.
