Of the P60.97 million cash donations, Robredo said they can now distribute 321,488 personal protective equipment for frontliners instead of the original target of 130,000 PPE sets.

“Marami kaming natipid kasi either may mga nag-donate, nadagdag na hindi ito donation in cash pero donation in kind. Mayroon ding mga nakuha naming mas mura kaysa sa budget (We had saved more because of the additional donations that were not donation in cash, but donation in kind. We were also able to get PPEs much cheaper than those in the budget),” she said on her radio show.

“So lampas doble iyong aming nadagdag, lampas doble iyong aming natipid (So we were able to add more than double, our savings were more than double),” Robredo noted.

The fund drive has reached the P61-million mark since the entire Luzon was locked down to stem the COVID-19 pandemic in mid-March.

The amount is composed of funds from Robredo’s office and the donation drive conducted by Kaya Natin! Movement, an Angat Buhay partner.

Various hospitals, health centers, and communities in the country have so far received 121,650 PPE sets as of May 9.

“Iyong target pala namin na 9,000 frontliners ang maseserbisyuhan, ngayon ang mabibigyan namin ay 21,432 (Of our target of servicing 9,000 frontliners, we can now provide PPEs to 21,432),” Robredo said.

The vice president said they would try to finish the distribution of the remaining PPE for COVID-19 frontliners within the month.

“Dahil nga nadagdagan so matagal-tagal pa ito. Siguro buong May kaya pa namin mag-deliver ng mga PPE sets (Because we have additional PPEs so this may take long. Maybe the whole May we can still deliver PPE sets),” she said. #
