NAIA Customs District Collector Carmelita M. Talusan said the shipment was sent through air cargo in one of the warehouses in Pasay City and was misdeclared as US$15 dollar worth of “plastic boxes” consigned to a male Filipino with an address in Tondo, Manila.

This is another scheme of evading the required License to Operate and Certificate of Product Registration from FDA on the importation of medicines said a Customs official.

The seizure was made by the BOC NAIA Examiners, X-ray Inspection Project (XIP), Enforcement and Security Service (ESS), Customs Intelligence & Investigation Service (CIIS) and Customs Anti-Illegal Drug Task Force (CAIDTF) through continuous profiling of shipments to unveil illegal modus in circumventing customs and related laws.

BOC NAIA will continue to perform its job in complying with the directives of Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero in strengthening border protection, they said.#
